Warriors Win Shutout With Miss. Delta, 42-41

Third quarter acti~n saw Delta narrow the scoring gap as Smith tallied en a 12 yard run, capping a 97 yard, 11 play drive. Andrus' PAR cut the EC advantage to 29-26. The Trojans later took the lead with a 27 yard scoring run and good point after - 33-29, Delta's favor. EC scored after kick-off and missed the point after and clung to 35- 33 advantage. Ahead only un– til an EC miscue gave Trojans a fourth touchdown, and \ two- point conversion, 41-35. . Trojans picked up a Warnor pass and advanced ~o 28 yard · line but EC's defensive stops Brian Jones, Anthony Thompson and a host of other Warriors forced a punt and marched to a last minute scoring drive with successful PAT by Hardy. The Warriors travel to Poplarville en Saturday for 2 p.m. kickoff homecomi{lg game.

With the nondivision \'ic– tory, the Warriors are assured of a winning season as their rec– ord improved to 6-2 overall. Delta fell to 1-7. East Central is currently tied with Copiah Lincoln for second place in the South Division standings, as both squads sport 3-1 marks. Hinds leads the division with a 4-1 record. East Central's game-winning drive began at its own 12 yard line with 4:56 remaining.
