Willit., a 6'4"', 220-pound pitcher/first ba:>eman. po~ted a 9-3 mark on the mound for the 1998 Diamond Warr.ors who captured the Coil• ge"s first ever state baseball champiOnship. The right-handed hurler record– ed 103 strikeoub and registered a 2.82 earned run average. The Neshoba Central High School product i also an offen– sive threat He batted .334 last season and hit 13 home runs. In addition. he collected 50 RBI's. Willis received numerous hon– ors following the Diamond Warrior::,' 32-22 campaign. He was an AJl-Regwn 23 and All– State selection and was named most valuable player in the South Division. In addition, he received the Diamond Warriors' most valuable player award. Wtllis is a business major at East Central and has a 3.5 grade point average. His parents are Linda and Derrell Willis of Philadelphia. Diamond Warrior head coach Jamie Clark said Willis turned down offers from the University of Southern Mississippi, Northeast Louisiana and South Alabama to sign with Ole Miss.
