Rushing was awarded a scholarship after the freshman walk-on complet– ed a successful season on the mound for the state champion Diamond Warriors. Rushing was the winning pitcher 1n ECCC's state championship clinching win agamst Mississippi Gulf Coast. Rushing had a 2.30 earned run average.
