noon. Every year since then the Collegians have played the 1:30 slot on Mondays at Founders Square Pavilion. Carson is pleased by the reception the Collegians have received at the Fair. "Over the years I've met people from out of state that have cabins at the fair that say they never miss that 1:30 concert," Carson said. For the past three years the Collegians have also per– formed a second concert at the racetrack at 7 Monday evening. The group that performs at the Fair is actually the previ– ous year's Collegians. Shortly after this performance new members audition for the group. "This is like the farewell performance of the previous year's group," Carson said. The songs performed by the · group are chosen in one of two ways. Carson picks some from the radio. "When I'm driving, I change channels continuously," Carson said. About 40 to 50 percent of the material is suggested by members.

The Neshoba County Fair offers many forms of enter– tainment - the beauty pageant, the political speech– es, the horse races and, of course, the music. Bands play at the grand– stand, Founders Square pavil– ion and several cabins. Rock, jazz, country, blues and gospel are among the musical genres which can be heard at the fair. And each year on Monday all these genres are represented in one show. The Collegians, East Central Community College's top 40 cover band, plays its annual show at 1:30 in the afternoon. The Collegians began play– ing at the Neshoba County Fair several years ago. Tom Carson, head of the band department at East Central, asked Dr. Rudolph Posey, who was in charge of entertain– ment in those days, if there were any openings in the schedule. Posey said that there was opening at 1:30 Monday after-
