Gomillion, Shawnamed to All-State Academic East Central Community College sophomores Amy Gomillion of Walnut Grove and Brian Shaw of Forest were recently named to the 1998 Mississippi All-State Academic Teams for Community and Junior Colleges. _

Gomillion_ a pre-pharmacy major, is one of the 10 students chosen from throughout the state on the first team. Those receiving the prestigious honor are selected on an application bas1s which includes written essays, letters of recommendation_ demonstration of academic achievement, leadersh1p skills and community service involvement. As a Mississippi first team recipi- ent, Gomillion w· placement on the All-USA Academic Team for community/junior colleges, sponsored by USA Today, Ph1 Theta Kappa and the American Association of Community Colleges. Those receiving the national recognition are featured in USA Today and will receive a $2500 stipend. Gomillion, a President's List schol– ar with a 4.0 grade point average, serves as President of the Student Body Assodation, Vice-President of Scholarship of Phi Theta Kappa and Vice-President of Mu Alpha Theta. She has served on the Presidents' Council, Student Council and the Dormitory Council. She has been a member of Warrior Corps, Sigma Sigma Mu Tau, the Fashion Squad, the ECCC Players and the Diamond Girls. She also served as class presi– dent during her freshman year. Among honors Gomillion has received include the 1997 Leon Eubanks Kaljyc-Peers Leadership Award, the 1997 Student Government Award and the Frank M. Croc;c; FreshmanChemistry Award.
