Cooper rresigns at ECCC; Coaching changes wer e not only taking place in the football office:-; at East Central Community College on Tuesday. ECCC will also have a coaching change in the basketball offices. ECCC head men's basketball coach Marty Cooper resigned to take a ~imilar position at Itawamba Community College. His resignation was approved by the College's Board of Trustees at its March meeting Tuesday at ECCC. Cooper's resignation is effective June 30, 1998. "First of all, we had seven great seasons at East Central, and we had a lot of great times,'' Cooper noted. "I feel like we established a good program and I have a lot of great memor ies for me to take as a coach. "This decision is one that I feel is in the best interest of my family and my future as a coach," he added, "but I certain- ly appreciate everything that was done for me at East Central. The people are great and we (family) made a lot of great friends." Cooper had an impressive seven seasons at the helm of the Warrior basketball program. Along the way, Cooper's Warriors amassed a 116-91 mark. In 1992-93, Cooper's Warriors posted a 24-8 ledger en route to winning the state cham– pionship.
