ECCC Plans Groundbreaking for New Women's Dormitory

DECATUR--Groundbreaking ceremonies for construction of a new women's dormitory at East Central Community Col· ege in Decatur will be hek at 2 30 p.m. Tuesday. Ocl ~er !3. 199 . ed in honor ofErma Lee Barber. a former dean of women and dorm supen Isor– will be located on the College·s South Campus and will house 124 female stu– dents. The 26,566 square foot structure is expected to be

completed prior to the 1999 fall semester. Funding for construction of Erma Lee Barber Hall is be– ing provided \.vtth a $3 mil– lion loan from the United ta:cs Depanment "''f Agri – cull...re. Rural De\. elopment Oi\. ision. whkh \.\Ill be re– paid over a 25-year period through special tax levies ap– pro\ ed by all five district county boards ofsupervisors. The ECCC district includes Leake, Neshoba, Newton, Scott, and Winston counties.

Miss Barber, who resides in Decatur, will be among spe– cial guests expected to attend the groundbreaking cer– emony. The public is also in– vited to attend the program.
