Shackelford is ECCC instructor Carol Shackelford of Union wa 5 recently named Cnghsh instructor at East Central Community College in Decatur. Prior t(l joining the ECCC staff Sh.:Kkelford 5erved as Engii!'-h ii1structor at Union High School and was a member of the ECCC ildjunct filculty Shackelford is a 5ix time recipient of the STAR leacher award and was chosen to attet~d the Lamplighter conf:rence tn 1996 whtch recogmzes out– standing community I ju_mor college instructors. She IS a member of Delta Kappa Gamma teacher's sorority and the Union Present Day Club.. A graduate of Lake Htgh School. Shackelford _received h"er associate's degree trom East Central Junior College and her bachelor's degree in f:n~lis~ education from MtsSI'>SIPP' State Univerc;ity. She also obtained the master of educa– tion and the educational c;;pe– cialist degrees from MSU. She and her husband, Rick, have a daughter, Sandy Thornton of Ridgt'land, w ho . works with Union Planter Bank and a son, Casey, who attends Union Junior H

Thrash's wife, Marjory, teach– es eighth gr ade English at Hawkins Middle School in Forest. They have four children: Andrew, 14; Jenna, 12; Bridget, 6; and Michael, 3.
