A loan for new EC dorm A check in the amount of $3-million was recently presented to East Central Community College in Decatur which will be used to construct a new women's dormi– tory on the College's South campus. The check represents a loan from the United Stated Department of Agriculture, Rural Development Division, which will be repaid through special tax levies approved by the five district county boards of supervisors over a 25-year period. Copeland of Philadelphia, ECCC Board of Trustees Chairman; Dr. Eddie M. Smith, ECCC President; Congressman Chip Pickering; and Ilene Gordon from Senator Trent Lott's office. Pickering, Lot.t and Senator Thad Cochran played key roles in ecuring the loan with federal funds. The new dorm, officially named Erma Lee Barber Hall in honor of the former ECCC Dean of Women and dorm supervisor, will provide housing for 124 female students. Ground breaking ·for the new facility will be held this summer.
