Area players namea to All-State teams

The Mi.,.:-i~sippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges recentlv announced the All– State Ba:-ketball Teams. The North women's flrst team consists of Jocelyn Frost, Coahoma; Chatica Hataway, Northwest. Tomeka S harp , ltawamba, Melo-dy Price, Northeast; and Shelia Bates, Northwest. The North second team includes Melissa Spears, Northeast; Elizabeth Mos by, Holmes; Katrina Williams, Coahoma, Amy Cade - a for– mer Kemper Academy standout, East Mississippi; and Vicky Wyatt. The South women's flrst con– sists of Melody Reed, East Central; Delanina Lucas, Pearl River; Demtrics Cain, Copiah– Lincoln; Amy Parker, Jones; and Helen Johnson, Hinds. The South second team is Pamela Lazare, Hinds; Melissa Johns, Southwest; Nalisha Crosby, Gulf Coast; Rhonda Lewis, Copiah-Lincoln; and Alberta Travis, Pearl River. Area players named to South honorable mention include Mona Owens, East Central; Kanesha Lampley, Jones; and Monica Lockhart, Jones. East Central's Sammy Pace was named Women's Coach-of– the-Year. The North men's first team consists of Gayland Young, Northwest: Russell Evans, Holmes; Curlis B rown, Coahoma, Cedrick Wallace, Northeast; and Recardo Curry, Itawamba. The North second team is filled by Darrell Brooks, East Mississippi; Deric Golden, Northwest; Jimmy Sanders, Holmes; Joseph Gillespie, Coahoma, and Richard Duncan, Northeast. The area players who received North honorable men– tion are Sean Johnson and Bruno Borja, both of East Mississippi.

Jones Louis Richardson, J ones;, Donnie Johnson, Pearl River; Antoine Hubbard, Jones; Dan Tubbs, Gulf Coast; and Maurice Bowie, East Central made up the men's South All– State first team. The second team includes Rusty Chapman, Southwest; Dewayne Middleton; Ronnie Jackson, Southwest; Joe McKinney, Hinds; Darrell Diamond, Hinds; and Allen Stinson, Gulf Coast. Area players named South honorable mention are Darvis Rasberry, of East Central, and Donshea Mayfield. from Jones. Mark Dukes of Northwest Community College was named Men's Coach-of-the-Year. • On track : The NJCAA Indoor National Track & Field Champion Eagles take their show outside. The Meridian Community College track team begins the outdoor season Saturday in Oxford. The Eagles and Lady Eagles travel to the University of Mississippi to compete in the Mississippi Open. During the outdoor season MCC will be competing closer to home. MCC will be in Raymond April 3, in Meridian April 9, Starkville April 20 and Ellisville April 23. Meridian will also host the Region 23 Meet may 1. • On the diamond: The MCC Eagle baseball team is on the road today at Soutern Union in Wadley, Ala. The ECCC Diamond Warriors . play host to Wallace-Selma~ today at 3 p.m. in Decatur. EMCC's baseball team has
