Women's tennis coach Natalie Vance of East Central Commwnity College in Decatur has been certi– fied as a membcc of the United States Professional Tennis Registry, an international tennis-teaching or– ganization ased on Hilton HeacJ Island, South Carolina. The USPTR was founded to cer– tify tennis teachers and coaches through an internationally recog– nized Standard Method of instruc– tion. A comprehensive, fi ve-part ex– amination is used to determine each member's rating. Upon passing, each member is recognized by the USPTR as a certified tennis teacher or coach. A written and on-rowt examina– tion was administered by the USPTR on teaching and p),aying skills to det.ennine a certification rating. Coach Vance received the Instructor rating. The USPTR is the world's largest international tennis-teaching organi– zation. With more than 7,500 mem– bers in 177 countries, the USPTR has the greatest percentage of wo– men and minority members of such an organization.
