The Lady Warriors of East Cen– tral Community College finished as the top team in the South Division despite a pair of league losses in last week's action. . The6-18 Warriors faced Jones in the first round of the South Divi– sion Tournament at Perldnston Monday night. The 15-9 Lady Warriors fmished in a three-way tie at the top of the league standings, but got the to~ seed in the division tournament and a berth in the Region 23 Tourna– ment based on the league's tie· breaker. • J on es women 79, EC 63: The Lady Warriors feU behind 39-28 in the first half as they lost the Feb. 12 contest at Ellisville. EC (15-8 overall, 8-3 South Di– vision') got a game-high 25 points from Melody Reed, 12 from Felicia Brantley, seven from Mona Owens, four from Sherrell Gullory, aJX1 three each from Christy Madison, Jennifer Musgrove, and Olivia McDaniel. Jones (16-7, 6-5) got 20 points from Amy Parker, 14 from Kanesha Lampley, and 13 from Dereta Jones. • J ones men 81, EC 69 : EC trailed by only three (4 1-38) at halftime, but Jones used a 40-31 advantage over the final 20 minutes to take the Feb. 12 win at Ellis– ville. Jones (21-4, 8-3) got a game– high 31 points from Louis Richard– son and 18 from Antoine Hubbard. • Gulf Coast women 7 4 , EC 63: EC led 36-33 at halftime, but was unable to hold on in Thursday's home finale at Decatur. EC (15-9, 8-4) got 17 points from Jennifer Alexander, 15 from Melody Reed, 13 from Olivia McDaniel, 12 from Kim Gentry, and six from Mona Owens. Angela Crosby led Gulf Coast (13-11, 5-7) with a game-high 21 points.
