ECCC Warriors Upset Copiah-Lincoln, 83-71

Fore"t led the Lady Warriors in scoring with 21 pomts. Pachasia Thompson of Phi– ladelphia also saw action in the division battle. Co-Lin led 29-24 at halftime. Because of weather conditions, East Central's games at Hinds Community College scheduled February 1 were postponed and have been rescheduled at 1 p.m. (women's game) and 3 p.m. (men's game), February 10 on the Utica campus. \ Remaining season contests in– clude a home game with Gulf Coast (February 15), and road battles at Holmes (February 8) and Jones (February 12). The South State Tournament is scheduled February 19-22 at the Perkinston campus of Missis– sippi Gulf Coast Community College.

Sparked by Morton High School product Maurice Bowie's 21-point effort, East Central Community College upset Copiah-Lincoln 83-71 January 29 on the Wesson campus. Four other Warriors also scored in double figures as EC snapped a five-game losing streak and improved to 6-13 overall and 3-5 in South Division action. Additional ECCC point– makers were Jacob Carr, 13, and Freddie Jowers, 12, both of Marengo, AL; Darvis Rasberry of Pine Bluff, AR, and Bobby Viv– erette of South Leake, 11 each; and Maurice Jones, nine, and Darrick Massey, six, both of Forest. O.J. McNichols of Union also saw action in the division matchup. Co-Lin, which fell to 12-8 over- all, led 38-34 at halftime. In women's play the Lady Warriors saw a three-game win streak end with their 71-63 loss to the Lady Wolves. Following the defeat, East Central fell to 13-6 overall and 6-2 in division competition.
