The Academic Achievement Scholarship was established to recognize students who score Jesc; than a 20 compo!iite score of the ACT yet have worked to ..chieve high grade point aver– ages. Jt is estimated that current– !} m the East Central district some 144 graduating seniors are high academic achievers with grade point averages in excess of 35 yet who have ACT composite score ofless than 20. The scholar– ships are available to any MS resident who enrolls as a full– t.me student at ECCC the fall semester following his/her high school graduation. Each student must have a high school grade point average of 35 or better on a 4.0 scale to be eligible for this scholarship. Students who have ACT scores of 20 or above will not be eligible for this scholar– ship. The Academic Achieve– ment Scholarships will be avail– able to eligible students for four consecutive semesters, grovided each awardee maintains a 25 grade point average for the first semester find a cumulative 3.0 grade point average for the sec– ond and third semester at ECCC. East Central Community Col– lege recently announced the addition of two new scholar– ships, according to Troy BroY..-n. Dean of Students. The Academic Achievement Scholarship and the Mississippi Junior Academy of Sciences Scholarship will be awarded for the first time begin– ning with the 1996-97 academic year. Eligible candidats for the Mis– sissippi Junior Academy of Sci– ences Scholarship will receive full tuition scholarships each semester for a maximum of four semesters. These scholarships will be available to any state resi– dent who is a Miss. Junior Academy of Sciences competi– tion winner. To qualify, students must enroll as a full-time student at ECCC the fall semester follow– ing his/her high school gradua– tion. Scholarships will be avail– able to the elig11>le students for
