JOHNSON RECE IVE S HONOR - Deatur attorney William H. Johnson Jr. will be presented a Special Achieve- ment Award from East Central Community College during Homecoming activities sche· duled Saturday, October 12, 1996, on the Deatur campus. Johnson served 35 years as ECCC Board of Trustees Attol'- ney until his resignation ·last spring. Johnson began his law practice in Deatur in 1948, and continued his distinguished ca- reer by serving as a state rep– resentative, a d istrict attorney, Decatur City Attorney and Newton County Attorney. He also held various positions of leadership in the legal profes- sion and in community and dvic activities. Johnson is a past president of the ECCC Alumni Association and was named the College's Alumnus· of the \'ear in 1968. A Scott County ~tive, Johnson is a graduate of Har– perville High School, East Cen- tral Junior College, Mississippi College and The University of Mississippi u w School. He was married to the former Liz- zie Butts of Decatur who died in 1985. Their children are Nancy Rector of Petal and Elizabeth Woodwud of Pensacola, Flol'- ida.
