Area teachers attend EC tecWprep meeting

Approximately 80 area teachers attended a Tech Prep Follow-up training recently held on the East Central Communi!) College campus in Decatur. Maudean Sanders, ECCC Tech Prep Coordinator, said the. purpose of the training """ as to insure · successful implementatton of the Tech Prep initiative in the East Central Community College consortium." Dr. Eddie M. Smith, ECCC President, welcomed the group to campus. The general session, which was held in the Associate Degree Nursing/Child Care Technolog) Building, featured Ovid Vickers as the main speaker. Vickers, longtime English instructor at ECCC, spoke on "Teaching, Learning and Extracurricular Activities." Among those conducting various subject-area sessions included Barbara Hanna of Meridian High School, English I– IV; Kim Culpepper of Phenix Cit). Ala., Biology/Chemistry; Sandra Amis of Lake High School. Algebra/Geometry; and Roger Whitlock, ECCC Work-Ba ed Learning Coordinator who present– ed a workshop on the Miss. Career Planning and Assessment System for vocational/technical instructors.
