He was the fi~t ~ast Central player since Denver Brackeen (1953-54) to earn first– team status. Mann averaged 21.2 points and l(r.9 rebounds while shooting63 percent. from the field. He is the onlyEast Central player to finish his career with at least 1,000 points and rebounds. "Marcus is the total package," East Central coach Marty Cooper said. "Basketball wise, he has great. hands and knows how to use his body around the basket." Cooper said he is more impres:ed with Mann's {ffcoun.demeanor. The Carthage native finished East Central with a 3.0 grade-point average in business administration. He was elected to the school's Hall ofFame. Mann is hoping to become the first of19 grandchildren of)lladine and Co– lon Mann to get hi:; college degree. Through the D:"St semester at Valley, Mann is sporting a 3.8 GP A. "My grandmother always told me to get my lessons first and everything else will oome," Mann said.
