ECCC's Cooper· adds 11 new Warriors East Central Community College men's basketball coach Marty Cooper has announced the signing of 11 players for the 1994-95 team. Three of the signees played loca lly. Shaun Grant, a 6-foot-2 shooting guard from Choctaw Central, led the five local schools in scoring this past season with an 18.4 scoring clip. The Wa rriors were 24-7, setting a school record for wins in a season. Mark Nance, a 6-foot-3 shooting gua rd from Neshoba Central, aver– aged 16.1 points and 4.5 rebounds for the 9-21 Rockets. J ason Smith, a 6-foot-4 power for– ward, averaged 17.9 points and 10 re– bounds for the 20-14 Yellow J ackets as they placed fourth in the Class 2A South State Tournament. Rober t Ear l Shephard, a 6-foot-5 small forward from Morton, averag– ed 20.5 points as the 25-3 Panthers reached the Class 3A state tour– nament. Also signed from Mor ton are 6-foot-6 post Maurice Bowie 09.6 ppg >and 5-foot-11 point guard Jason Latham. From 19-10 Class 3A state semifin– alist Forest are 6-foot-2 shooting guard Maurice Jones and 6-foot-3 small forward Darrick Massey. Gary Butler, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Sebastopol, averaged 25.6 points and 12 rebounds for the Bobcats. Also signed a re 6-foot-6 post Fr ed– die Jowers and 6-foot-2 combo guard J acob Carr from Marengo High School in Dixons Mill, Ala .
