Hurst, Jones Named Mr., Miss ECCC
received a basketball scholarship. Hurst is the son of Mike and Lucy Hurst ofHickory. Jones was elected 1994 home– coming queen and participates in a wide variety of activities. She serves as president of the Warrior Corps, an organization composed of student recruiters, vice chainnan of the Pres- ' idents Council; and secretary for the Fellowship Of Christian Athletes. She had been a football and basketball cheerleader the past two seasoru. Jones served a co-captain of the 1994 footba:JI'Cheerleading squad whim v.~ :se"eraJ awards at the Natioml Cbeerleading Association Collegiate Camp held last summer in Athens, Tex.a.s.
Sophomores Mike Hurst of Hick– ory and Ronda Jones of Forest have been selected Mr. and Miss EasL Central Community College follow– ing the recent campus elections. Hurst, a Dean's listscholar, serves as president of the Student Body Association and holds various other positions of leadership. He is also president ofTheta Xi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society for community and junior college students, and most recently was named to the organization's 1995 All-Mississippi Academic Sec– ond Team for Community andJunior Colleg~. He was also recently inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa's Order of the Golden Key, the organi– zal.ion's highest honor for student members. In addition, Hurst is a PTK Academic All-American nomi– nee. The Newton County Academy gra– duaate also serves as secretary ofMu Alpha Theta and holds membership in Alpha Alpha Epsilon, Warrior Corps, Presidents Council and Stu– dents Against DrunkDriving. An All-American Scholar, Hurst has been named to Who's Who Among Studennts in American JuniorColleges. For the past two seasons, he has been a member of the Warrior basketball team and served as co– captain ofthe 1994-95 squad.
