ECCC rallies to beat Jackson Jackson (Tenn.) State Community Collage has fallen on hard times. And things didn't get any easier Friday night at East Central Community College came back to beat the Generals 10·9. East Central's Tommy Bost was walked in with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to seal the win at Chris Gay, IV Field. The Warriors (13-9} were down by one, 9-8, in the bottom of the ninth when Bost hit a run-scoring double that plated Kevin Nelson to tie the game at 9-9. After a walk to Kenyon Gardner, Shane McGee singled to load the bases for Ricky John, the Warrior leadoff batter. John took General pitcher Cary Hiles to a full count before taking a ball low to send Bost home for the game-winner. 'We got three hits in the ninth inning to set us up for the win," Warriors coach Jamie Clark said. John went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI to pace the Warriors at the plate. "We have found tough ways to lose all week," Generals coach Bubba Cates said. "But we have gone out and played the best MisSISSippi has to offer." East Central held a 5-1 lead going into the top of the fifth but the Generals rallied with a three-run inning on four hits to pull to within 5-4. The Warriors picked up a run in the top of sixth but fell apart defensively, committing four errors, as the Generals tied the game at 6-6. The Warriors committed 10 errors on the night, a hard fact to swallow for Clark. "We have had a real tough year catching and throwlng," Clark said. East Central held a one-run lead heading into the final frame at 8-7 but again the defense failed the Warriors as the Generals took a 9-8 lead on an East Central throwing error. "It wasn't pretty but is was a win," Clark said. ''The win is what counts." Brooks Bryan (2-2) finished out the ninth to pick up his second win of the year. The former Philadelphia High standout was also 2-for-4 at the plate. Hiles took the loss for the Generals. - Mark Beason
