• ec football asSistants: While no official word has come from the school. the assis– tant footbaU coaches for the 1995 season at East Central Community CoUege are ex– pected to be Ttmmy Coats and Terry Underwood. Coats. the eldest son of recently approv– ed head coach WtUie Coats, is currently an assistant football and baseball coach at Newton. He quarterbacked Decatur High School to an n-o mark in 1978 before con– tinuing his career at Mississippi College. Underwood recently completed his third year as an assistant with Coats at Pearl River. He was offensiv~:: line coach at PRCC the past two seasons. In 1993, the Wildcats averaged 4ll.l yards a game, 301 of which came on the ground A member of the 1979 state champion– ship team and 1980 state runnerup squad at Jones Junior College, Underwood serv– ed as an assistant to Coats at Hattiesburg High School from 1984·91 and at PRCC from 1992-94. He ts a native of Seminary. The new EC assistants won't officiaUy join the staff until Aug 1.
