ECCC ribbon cutting
Joined by state and local officials, East Central Community College President Dr. Eddie M. Smtth cuts the ribbon to officially open the new Skill/Tech One-Stop Career Center during ceremontes recently held on the Decatur campus. Also participating in the ribbon cutting ceremony were (from left) Bob Beckley, plant manager at ESCO Corporation in Newton and Chairman of the ECCC District Workforce Development Council; Karl Brantley, president of U.S. Electrical Motors in Philadelphia; V. C. Manning of Philadelphia, chairman of the ECCC Board of Trustees; Earl Bryan, plant manager at La-Z-Boy South in Newton; Mrs. Carol Vickers, ABEJGED instructor and Workforce Development council member; Earl Marshall, Career Center Team leader; Dr. Olon Ray, executive director of the Miss. State Board for Community and Junior Colleges; and Dr. Phil Sutphin, dean of instruction. The Career Center is located adjacent to the Bradford J. Tucker Applied Technology Center. Purpose of the facility is to provide businesses and industry the education, training, placement, assessment and consultation to 1mprove the quality of the workforce tn ECCC's five-county district.
