Carthage man named to new ECCC position

Joseph J. Renaud Jr. of Carthage has been selected Per– sonal Development Specialist at East Central Community Col– lege in Decatur, announced Dr. Eddie M. Smith, college presi– dent. Prior to joining the ECCC staff, Renaud was associated with New York Life insurance company and worked in various other sales positions. He is also a former personnel manager at Green Acres Farms in Sebastopol and served as assistant plant manager at Choctaw Maid Farms in Carthage. In addition, he is a former employment counselor for the Mississippi State Em– ployment Service in Forest and also served as housing officer fo r the Mi ssissippi Band of Choctaw Indians in Philadel– phia. He began his career as a social worker for the State Wel– fare Department in Carthage. In his new position at East Central, Renaud will be work– ing with individuals, businesses and industries in the ECCC five-county district in an effort to provide individual education– a l counseli ng and individual and group assessments for all categories of literacy and job skills. Renaud is the most recent addition to the college's work– force development team. His office will be located in the new One-Stop Career Center sched-

Watkins High School in Laurel, Renaud received an associate in arts degree from Jones County Junior College and hold s a bachelor of s cience <.IC'gr cc in psychology from the UniYcrsity of Southern Mississippi. He is marrietl to lh<• former Shirley Sanders of Carthag<' who is employed as a history teacher at Choctaw Central Middle School near Phtladcl– phia. They have two chtldren. Joff, an ECCC honor graduate who is currently a <;<•nior at USM, a nd Tar a, a senior at Carthage High School. •
