Lady Warriors Win Squeaker at Jones

East Central's Lady Warriors raJ– lied from a 38-33 halftime deficit to claim a 63-62 South Division win over the Lady Bobcats of Jones County Junior College Thursday night inEllisville. With the victory, the ECCC women improved to U- 3overall and 4-1 in division play. Freshman Melody Reed of R rest led the LadyWarriors attack v. ith 16 points. In men's action, the Wamors ?.'ere outgunned b)' the nationally ranked Bobcats by a 110-77 margin. Phillip Prince of Philadelphia h:ld 26 poings for the Wa:riors v.ho dropped to 7-10 and 0-5. Otber poinunalcers were 0 . J. Mc!':ichols and Bobby Vivereae, 16 each; Jamie Suttles, nine; Darvis Rasberry, four. and Johnny Mays, Eric Caples and Vincent Spencer, two each. Jooes led 54-39 at halftime.

GAMES PLAYEDJAN.lO: Both ECCC teams fell to Holmes Community College in nondivision competition held on the Goodman campus. The Lady Warriors fell 76-69 while the Warriors were clipped by a 70-68 score. Scoring for the ECCC women were Davis, 17; Reec, 12; Robinson, nine; Alexander, eight; Brandi Har– ber, seven; Bounds and Dane Vance, six each; Ellis, three; and Moore– bead, one. The Lady Warriors led 35-25 at halftime. Wa rrior pointmakers were Alphonzo Norman, 16;Rasberry, 10; Prince, McNichols and Spencer, nine each; Chris Hillie, six, Suttles, five; and Mays and Mike Hurst, two each. Holmes led 28-25 at halftime. GAMES TillS WEEK: In games scheduled this week, East Central will host Gulf Coast Community College on t uesday, January 17 and travel to Southwest Mississippi Community College on Thursday, Januaryu 19. Both teams v.ill entertain Copiah-Lincoln on Monday, January 23rd.
