East Central turned the ball over 32 times - 16 turnovers in both the first and second halves - against visiting Hinds Thursday night. Yet the Lady Warriors had little trouble in disposing of the Lady Bulldogs, 85-70. "VVe set a record for turnovers tonight," East Central head coach Sammy Pace said. "VVe tried to run a little too much and got out of control." The Lady VVarriors did stay in control long enough to start the game on a 15-2 run, capped by Brandi Harber's three-pointer with 13:15 left in the first. East Central kept the pace, extending the lead to 25-8 and 44-25 at halftime, as Harber hit her third trey at the buzzer. "VVe couldn't make a basket in the first half," Hinds head coach Lester Owf n~;; said. "They did a good job on scor– ing." The Lady Warriorl'\ came out in the ~;;econd half and pushed the lead to as much as 25 points, as Christy Madison nailed a three-pointer with 8:30 to go, making the score 68-43. However, Hinds responded with an 11-1 surge after Madison's trey and managed to pull within 15, 69-54, on Mildred Champion's two free throws with 5:35 left in the game. "The (girls) got such a lead, that they felt they could relax," Pace said. "But you can't relax." The Lady Warriors picked the pace back up and kept the 15-point margin to the final, getting the 85-70 win. ECCC improved to 15-4 overall and 7-2 in the JUCO

East Central had five play– ers in double figures, with Monica Davis coming off the bench to lead the Lady Warriors with 13 points and nine rebounds. Melody Reed had 12 points and nine r ebounds , Genia Griffin had 12 points and four assists, Harber had 12 points with six rebounds and five assists while J.J. Moorhead also added 12 points for East Central The Lady Bulldogs dropped to 6-13 overall and 3-5 in the division, with a road trip to Coahoma on Saturday. Hinds was paced by Ethel Bradley's 17 points, while Tarsha Bowie had 15 points and nine rebounds and Monique Davis chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds. • East Central (men) 92, Hinds 71: The Warriors got thier second division win in a row as they blasted the Bulldogs. East Central (9-12 2-7) broke a 12-12 tie early in the game with a 31-17 run to close out the first half, as Philip Prince hit his third three-pointerto push the Warrior lead to 43-29 at half– time. Hinds (4-14, 1-8) trailed by as many as 32 points when East Central's Bobby Viverette hit a short jumper with 3:30 left in the game, making the score 86-54. The Warriors criused the rest of the way. Vincent Spencer led East Central with 18 points while Prince had 16 points, includ– ing four t hree-pointers that gives the sophomore guard 56 treys for the season. Darvis Rasberry added 14 points and Johnny Mays 12 for the VVarriors Hinds was led by Daryl Allen's 18 points and Mark Smith with 14.
