ECCC Post VictoriesOver Hinds

It was "sweep night" at East Cen– tral Community College last Thurs– day as the Warriors and Lady Warriors won handily over competi– tion from Hinds Community College. The Warriors, led by Vincent Spencer's 18 points, cruised to a 92-71 vicctory and improved their ' season record to 9-12 overall and 2-7 in division action while the Lady Warriors, paced by Genia Griffm and Monica Davis with 15 points each, won by an 85-70 margin. The ECCC women are now 15-4 overall and 7-2 in league play. Besides Spencer, other EC point– makers were Philip Prince, 16; Jamie Suttles and Darvis Rasberry, 14 each; Johnny Mays 12; OJ. McNi– chols, 9; Bobby Viverette, 6; Mike Hurst, 5; and Alphonzo Nonnan and Eric Caples, 4 each. EC led 43-29 at halftime. Others scorers for the Lady War– riors included Brandi Harber, 12; Melody Reed, 11; J.J. Moorehead, 9; LaDonna Robinson, 7; Cyntia Ellis, 5; Dane Vance and Christy Madison, 3 each; Jennifer Alexander and Wil– ma Cooksey, 2 each; and Kim Gen-

try, l. East Central led 44-25 at halftime. In games played Monday, January 23, Prince scored 30 points and led the Warriors to a 72-64 win over Copiah-Lincoln Community College while the EC women dropped a 67-65 decision to the visiting Lady Wolves. Besides Prince, other pointmakers were Mays, 20; Rasberry, 8; Spencer, 6; McNichols ado Hurst, 3 each and Caples, 2. Co-Lin led36-34 at halftime. Cooksey led the Lady Warriors in scoring with 14 points. Also scoring were Vance, 13; Davis, 10; Reed, 8; Moorehead, 6; Harber andRobinson, 5 each; and Alexander and Griffin, 2 each. The score was tied 32-32 at h31ftime. In games scheduled this week: East Central traveled to Pearl River Com– munity College on Monday, January 30, and will hO'..;t Holmes Communi– ty College on Thursday, February 2. The Lady Warriors and Warriors entertain Jones Junior College on Monday, February6.

Basketball at ecce

East Central has two remaining borne games... this Thursday vs. Holmes and then Monday, Feb. 6 vs. Jones.. .JocaJ fans need to support the ECCC squads. East Central will host the South State boys and girls tournament during Feb. 13-16. The South girls winner will host the State so the Lady Warriors have an added incentive to get the top spot Region 23 play is set for Mississippi College 2/21-28 and 3/l-2...it would be great to see ECCC there, and beyond.
