The East Central Community Col– lege Lady Warriors closed out regu– lar-season play last week with a pair of victories, while the Warriors suf– fered two defeats. Entering this week's South Divi– sion Tournament which beganMon– day at ECCC, the Lady Warriors were 18-5, while the Warriors had a 9-16 mark. The division tournament runs through Thursday. ECCC WOMEN 63, JONES 53: The Lady Warriors used a balanced scor– ing attack to defeat Jones on Feb. 6 in Decatur. In improving to 8-3 in the South Division and 17-5 overall, EC got 10 · points from J .J. Moorehead, nine from both Brandi Harber and Moni– ca Davis, and eight from both Genia Griffin and LaDonna Robinson. Jones fell to 5-6 in the division and 14-10 overall. JONES MEN 65, ECCC 62 (OT): The Warriors nearly pulled off a major upset before falling to the nationally– ranked Bobcats in overtime on Feb. 6 in Decatur. Philip Prince led EC with 14 points. Darvis Rasberry added 13, Eric Caples 11, and Mike Hurst 10. Vincent Spencer, Jamie Suttles, and Bobby Viverette each had fom: Eleventh-ranked Jones (10-1, 22-2) was led by Antonio Hubbard's game– high 27 points. LaDonna Robinson scored 22 points and Monica Davis added 20 to leadEC which improved to 9-3 in the division and 18-5 overall. Dane Vance added seven, J .J. Moorehead and Brandi Harber both had six, Jennifer Alexander had five, Wilma Cooksey tossed in four, and Melody ~ Reed added three. Yoursheko Robinson led Gulf Coast (1-11, 7-18) with 17 points, while Paula Lewis had 15.
