ECCCTeams End Season Regular season action came to an end for both East Central Commun– ity College basketball teams last week with the Lady Warrioo claim– ing victories over Gulf Coast and Jones while the men were not as fortunate. although the Warriors pro– vided quite a scare for the highly rankedJones Bobcats. The Lady Warriors, who com– pleted the '94-95 competition by posting an 18-5 overall record and 9-3 mark in South Division Play, defeated Gulf Coast 76-55 Thursday in Perkinston and outscored Jones 63-53 February 6 inDecatur. LaDonna Robinson led Lady Warrior scorers with her 22 point effort Also scoring were Monica Davis, '20; Dane Vance, 7; Brandi Harber and J. J. Moorehead, 6 each; Jennifer Alexander, 5; Wilma Cook– sey, 4; Melody Reed, 3; Sara Hol- -lingsworth, 2; and Christy Madison and Chasity Bounds, 1 each. E. C. led30-23 at halftime. Against Jones, Moorehead was top point-getter with 10. Other lead– ing scorers were Harber and Davis, 9 each; and Genia Griffin and Robin– son, 8 apiece. In men's action. EC fell 80-71 to Gulf Coast and lost a nail-biting 65-62 overtime decision to nation– ally ranked Jones. Following both losses, the Warriors dropped t 9-16 and2-10. Phillip Prince led the Warriors against Gulf Coast with 21 points. Also scoring were Eric Caples and V~cent Spencer, 12 each; Bobby Vtverette, 7; 0. J. Nichols and Mike Hurst. 6 each; Darvis Rasberry, 5; and Jamie Suttles, 2. Gulf Coast led 37-'r/ at intermission.
