Lady Waniors in Region 23 title hunt Winning a second straight Region 23 title is on the minds of East Central Community College's Lady Warriors who hope to re– bound from last week's 69-66 Joss to Northwest for the MACJC State Championship. East Central, 22-6, begins its quest for another region crown by taking on Coahoma at 1:45 Tues– day in Mississippi College's A.E. Wood Coliseum. Should the Lady Warriors defeat their first-round opponent, they would then advance to semi-fmal action scheduled at noon Wednes– day against the Mary Holmes - Northeast winner. Tournament finals will be held at 6 p.m. Thurs– day, with the champion advancing to the NJCAA Women's Basketball Tournament scheduled March 13-18 in Tyler, Texas. Last year the Lady Warriors won the Consola– tion Championship and finished seventh in the nation with a 28-7 record. In last week's loss to Northwest, the Lady Warriors trailed 60-45 with about six minutes left until key baskets by Monica Davis, Brandi Harber and Cyntia Ellis cut the lead to 67-66 with three seconds remain– ing.
