Central coach Sammy Pace was a little more worried than normal going into Wednesday night's Region XXIII semifinals at Mississippi College. His team had survived a hard-fought game with Holme s on Tuesday, and then did not get home until after 1:30 Wednesday morn– ing. The Lady Warriors were tired, but Pace knew there was no time to recov– er. So, instead of using fatigue as an excuse, the Lady Warriors came out fired up and ready to play against Northwest Community College (23-5). An early 11-2 run got the Lady Warriors going, and East Central held off sever– al second half challenges to record a 94-84 victory. The Lady Warriors (24-6) will return to A.E. Wood Coliseum one more time tonight, this time with a trip to the Women's National Junior College Tournament on the line. Game time against high – scoring Pearl River is set for 6p.m. In the men's champi– onship game Northwest, which upset top-seeded Northeast 101-97, will take on Bossier Parrish. "It is a good feeling to win any ball game, but especial– ly when it is against a quali– ty opponent like Northwest," Pace said. "We felt like we could whip them on the inside if we could get the ball down in there. We did and it worked, but in the second half I think our game last night started to play a fac– tor."
