GED training is free to students Got the time for a better future, but not the money or training? Job seekers who did not complete high school often find employers will accept a GED certificate as evidence they can do the work on offer. . GED stands for General Educa– tion Development. Training is free to students. Persons who can not read, as well as those who do have reading skills, are eligible. The Futura Club of Philadelphia, through its Adult Literacy Division, recognizes education as the key to an improved future for all persons. During September, which is designated as Literacy Month, club members give special emphasis to GED training programs. In Neshoba County, GED classes are taught at two locations. Mrs. Renee Wood and Mrs. Paula Ander– son are the instructors for those taught on the Philadelphia High School campus. And, Mrs. Sandy Wedgeworth leads those held at the Philadelphia-~eshoba County Vo– Tech Center The program is sponsored by East Central Community College asse- eet ., Q n;gh'" a .,ffit for two hours each night. They are open to persons who did not com– plete high school. Training is held on Tuesday and Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. ' ·Students can enroll at any lime," said Mrs. Wood, "because they learn at their own pace. We provide Adult Basic Education and GED training. That means people do not have to read well to become students." Students work with teachers to determine their education stage when they enroll. The training for each p"rson begins at the level of education they have reached . Students who want to earn a GED certificate can work through classes until they are prepared to take the test for that document.
