Pearl River flows past ECCC, 41-0 • Warriors equal school record winless streak at 11 . East Central Community College fell to 0-5 overall with Saturday night's 42-{) drubbing at the bands of Pearl River in Poplarville. ECCC dipped to 0-3 in the South Division and has the rugged trio of Itawamba (4-1 ), Hinds (4-1), and J ones (5-0) lined up for the next three weeks. Pearl River improved to 1-2 in the division and 2-3 overall. The other Wildcat win was against Coahoma. ECCC tied its school record win– less streak at 11 with the loss. It was ECCC's 12th-consecutive road loss as well. The 42-point difference was ECCC's worst whipping since a 61-18 loss to Pearl River in 1969. The Warriors threatened on their second series as they drove from their 20 to the PRCC 10. The drive stalled and Peyton Weems missed on a 27-yard field goal attempt. After a scoreless first quarter, the Wildcats, who had just 37 points combined in their first four games, got a pair of touchdowns from quarterback Jerel Posey in the se– cond period. Posey scored on a 4-yard run with 9:38left in the first half and then again on a 6-yard run 4: 50 before intermission as PRCC carried a 14-0 lead into halftime. A three-touchdown showing in the third period turned the South Divi– sion contest into a rout. Jermaine Roberts got the first touchdown on a 14-yard run. Kabri Walker got the second on a 40-yard pass from quarterback Jarvis Lipscomb with 11:37 showing. The third came on a 5-yard keeper by Lipscomb. The final touchdown came on a 2-yard run by Richard Jefferson with 2:10 left in the game. In its five games, ECCC has allow– ed 21 touchdowns.
