Those receiving honorable mention All-State recognition in– clude offensive tackle Marlon 13lack (6'5", 318) of Liberty County High School in Bristol, Florida; offensive guard Lundy Brantley (5'10", 250), Neshoba Central; offensive guard jason Greene (6'4", 255), Carthage; center Mark West (6', 240), Forest; wide receiver Omeri Greene (6'1, 190), Banneker High School, Col– lege Park, Georgia; defensive back Eddie Hunt (6'2", 202), Louisville; defensive end William Mays (6'3", 240), Wenonah High School, Roo– sevelt, Alabama; linebacker Charles Bester (6'1'', 210), Hillcrest High School, Tuscaloosa, Alabama; strong safety Michael Holbert (6', 215), Morton; defensive back Jamie Day (6'2", 202), Neshoba Central; defensive end Latwaun Cook (6'2", 240), Greenville (Alabama) High School; and defensive back Willie Porter (5'9", 175), Louisville. Warriors take 76-71 victory Selected to participate in the Mississippi junior College All Star Classic are Brad Moody, a 6'1'', 232- pound linebacker from Neshoba Central High School; Frederick "Chubby" Tate, a 6'3", 254-pound tight end from North Forrest High School in Hattiesburg; james McGee, a 6', 236-pound fullback from Franklin High School in Canon, Georgia; and Stacey White– head, a 6'5", 299-pound defensive end from New Bern (North Carolina) High School. The annual contest is scheduled December 3 at Northeast Miss. Community Col– lege. Tate and Whitehead are also first team All-State selections, while Moody and McGee have been to the All-State second team along with kicker Peyton Weems (5'8", Freshman Johnny Mays pumped in 20 points and led East Central Community College to a 76- 71 win over East Mississippi in opening round action of the Gulf Coast Tournament November 21 on the Perkinston campus. The narrow victory marked the third time the two teams having met on the young campaign, with ECCC claiming its second win. Also scoring were Phillip Prince, 15; Chris Hillie and O.J. McNichols, 14 each; Darvis Rasberrry, 6; Jamie Suttles, 3; and Mike Hurst and Juan Allen, 2 each. East Mississippi led 36-29 at half– time. The Warriors were not as fortu– nate against Northwest the follow- ing day, losing to the undefeated Rangers by a 78-60 margin. Pointmakers for EC were McNi– chols, 10; Allen, 9; Hillie and Ras– berry, 7 each; Vincent Spencer, 6; Mays, Prince and A\phonza Nor– man, 5 each; Suttles, 4; and Bobby Viverette, 2. Northwest Jest 42-29 at halftime. The Warriors, 5-4 overall and Lady Warriors, 7-0 and idle last week, begin South Division action by hosting Southwest Mississippi Community College on Tuesday, November 29. Other upcoming di– vision matchups are scheduled Thursday, December 1, at Copiah– Lincoln; Monday, December 5, at Hinds; and Thursday, December 8, with visiting Pearl River.
