ECCC to offer classes for G.E.D. Auults who need to improve thc1r reading and math <.kill!> in preparation to Lake the General Education Development (GED), or high school eguivalcncy exam, can sign up for free classes offered by East Central Community College in Decatur. County \ ocationai-Tcchnical Cen– ter In Winston County, classes arc provided from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Mondays at Miller Chapel and the Greensboro Center, and from 5.30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thurs– days at the Louisville/Winston County Yo-Tech Center.
East Central, through its Office of Adult and Continuing Education provides Adult Basic Education (ABE) and GED classes on campus and at various off-campus locations to assist adult learners. The ABE program serves adults who read and compute below the ninth grade level, while GED classes are designed for those who read and compute above the ninth grade level and have not completed high school. Instruction is geared tow~rd higher level reading and math skills and usage of the English language. Classes are frcP. to the public and students may enroll at any time. In Leake County, classes are of– fered from 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays at Carthage High School, and from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Thomastown High School. In Neshoba County, classes arc offered from 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays at Philadelphia High School, and during the same time period on Wednesdays and Thurs– days at the Philadelphia/Neshoba County Yo-Tech Center. In Newton County, classes arc offered from 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays at Union High School, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mon– days and Wednesdays at Newton Elementary School, and from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays on the East Central campus.
