Guraedy to present workshop The Philadelphia-Neshoba County Arts Council will sponsor a multi-media workshop on Saturday and Sun– day, Oct. 22 and Oct. 23 in the Neshoba County Library. The workshop will be from 9 a .m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Bruce Guraedy will present the workshop. He receiv– ed his bachelor of arts degree in art and his master of education degree in art education from the University of Southern Mississippi. He has done further study at Mississippi College and Mississippi Stale University. Guraedy is an art instructor at East Central Com– munity College and an adjunct art history 1nstructor at the Meridian branch of Mississippi State. He is a member of Decatur Methodist Church, Clay Bluff Art Association, Miss issippi Community College Art Instructors Association, and the Mississippi Faculty Association for Community and Junior Colleges. He has been awarded the Distinguished Faculty Award, Mississippi Artists Permanent Collection from the Mississippi Museum of Art, National Teaching Ex– cellence Award, Lamplighter Award for Excellence in Teaching. He is an art critic for Clay Bluff Art Association. Guraedy is married to the former Linda Knighton, an elementary school teacher in Newton County. They are the parents of a son, Jason, 12. For the workshop, those who already paint can bring -.....roils, acrylics, water color, or pas tels. You will receive helpful hints on color mixing, composition, painting techniques, perspective and preportions. You will need to bring appropriate supplies to work in your chosen media as well as something to paint from. For those who are beginners or those who would like to learn to paint, the workshop time will be spent draw– ing. In order to learn to paint, you must first Jearn how to draw.

Beginners need to bring all purpose paper drawing pad no smaller than llx14 ; two regular No. 2 pencils ; ebony pencil ; gum eraser or kneaded eraser ; and 12-inch ruler. All members of the Philadelphia-Neshoba County Arts Council may attend this workshop free. If you are not a member, you may join or pay a workshop fee. The Ar ts Council is funded in part by the City of Philadelphia, Neshoba County and the Mississippi Arts Commission.
