Community College Network dedicated Dr. Eddte M. Smith, prestden: of East Central Community College, 1s shown during remarks made prior to the July 11 dedtcatton of the Communtty College Network (CCN), a totally interactive telecommunications system. CCN, a project of the M1sstss1pp1 Rural Health Corps, connects the state's pubhc community/junior colleges, the Miss1ssipp1 Cooperative Extens1ve Servtce at MtSSISStppt State Untverstty and the University of MiSSISSIPPI Medical Center. The network Will enable colleges to simultaneously teach at up to 17 statewide sites. The first nursing and allied health classes begm with the 1994 fall semester, with additional offerings provided as the system matures. Featured speaker during the ded1cat1on program was Senator Thad Cochran who was Instrumental in obtaining funding for CCN through the United States Department of Agriculture. Remarks were also made by various state officials. Seated at right is ECCC Dean of Instruction Dr. Phil Sutphin, shown making necessary camera adjustments from the college's net– wor~ lo<;ation 1n Newton Hall, Room 60.
