ECCC Warriors In Tournament

In men's action, East Central overcame a 49-41 halftime deficit to defeat Mary Holmes 102-92 on Thursday but fell to Wallace State 84-80onWednesday. Phillip Prince blistered the back– boards with 31 pints against Mary Holmes to lead Warrior pointmak– ers. Other top scorers were 0. J. McNichols and Johnny Mays, 15 each; Chris Hillie - 14; and Vincent Spencerwith 10. Against Wallace State EC scorers were Hillie, 25; Prince - 17; Juan Allen - 13; Darvis Rasberry - 10; Mays - 7; Mike Hurst - 3; Jamie Sut– tles and Bobby Viverette - 2 each; and Vincent Spencer - 1. Wallace State led 41-39 at half– time. East Central now 4-3, will com– pete in the Gulf Coast Community College Tournament November 21-22 on the Perkinston Campus. The Warriors face East Mississippi at 6 on Monday and Northwest at 2 on Tuesday. Both EC Squads begin South Division competition against visiting Southwest on Tuesday, November 29.

East Central's women's basket– ball team defeated Mary Holmes 103-74 on Thursday and Wallace State %~ 1 on the Scooba Campus November 16 and 17th, raising their mark to a perfect 7..(). Monica Davis, who recently signed a national letter of intent with the Uni– versity of Arkansas in Monticello, led East Central against Mary Hol– mes with 21 points in the lopsided victory. Also scoring were LaDonna Robinson, 17; Brandi Harber - 12; JJ. Moorehead ~ 9; Genia aGriffm and Melody Reed - 7 each; Chasity Bounds and Cyntia Ellis - 6 each; Dane Vance and Christy Madison- 4 each; Wilma Cooksey - 3; Sara Hol– lingsworth and Kim Gentry - 2 each. EastCentral led 54-37 at halftime. In Wednesay's win over Wallace State, Reed was the top pointmaker with 23. Also scoring were Robin– son, 18; Madison- lOp; Moorehead- 9; Davis - 8; Vance - 6; Griffin - 5; Bounds, Nikki Ross and Ellis - 4 each; Jennifer Alexander - 3; and Gentry- 2. The Lady Warriors Jed 45-28 at halftime.
