EC takes two at Delta

The East Central Community Col– lege basketball teams opened their 1994-95 season Friday night in Moorhead by sweeping Mississippi Delta. Leake Academy career-scoring leader Philip Prince led the War– riors to a 67-61 win over the Trojans with a game-high 22 points. Darvis Ras berry of Pine Bluff, Ark , toss– ed in 12, while Milton Hillie of Lake had 10. Chris Hillie of Newton and Mike Hurst of Newton County Acad– emy both added five. The Warriors, who were 23-5 a

year ago, led 30-26 at halftime. Delta fell to o-2. The defending Region 23 chain– pion Lady Warriors racked up a 70-45 blowout in the opener after tak– ing a 36-20 lead into halftime. Monica Davis of Banks, Ark., led EC with 16 points, while the Union guard tandem of Brandi Harber and J.J . Moorhead both scored 12. Melody Reed of Forest added 10. EC placed seventh in the NJCAA tournament last spring to cap a 28-7 season. Delta fell to o-2.
