Award Honors ECCC Player A new men':. basketball scholarship has been established at East Central Community College in honor of '"' O-) e1u standout Anthony Coleman of Toxey, Alabama, second from left, who is shown du~ an award presentation with (from left) ECCC President Dr. Eddie Smith and Jennifer and Mart) Cooper, men's basketball coach. Coleman, a product of Southern Choctaw High School, wa diagno'ed \\-ith severe health problems last year and was not expected to return to the Warrior squad for the 1993-94 campaign. But because of his courage and determination, Coleman over– came adHrsit) and through his leadership East Central experienced·anotber successful season by winning the ~outh State and South Division championships and finishing with a 23-5 record. It wa) Coleman \\-hose laSt-second field goal gave the Warriors a 87-85 overtime win over Gulf Coast for the 1992-93 state tournament title. In tribute to this outstanding athlete, the Coopers begao the Anthony Coleman Men's Basketball Scholarship which will be presented during Awards Day acti\iti~ held each spring on the Decatur campus.
