East eentral concludes season wi th 1-8-1 mark

The East Central Commurutv Col– lege Warriors wrapped up the1i- 1993 rootball <>eason with a 1-8-. record fter Thursdav·s 24-10 loss to Jones ll a rainy riight at Bush-\oung tadium in Ellisville. The Warriors finished siXth in the Se\'en-team South Division at 1-H. y Coahoma at 1-9 had a worse O\Crall slate among the 14 state JUl'ClS Southwest was also 1-8-1. Jones takes a 9-1 record mto Saturday's state championship game at 10-0 Mississippi Delta. The winner is expected to receive a bid lo play for the NJCAA national championship. J ones scored first on a 16-yard quarterback keeper by Chris Wind– sor with 12: 07 remaining in the first half. Windsor then took a ~layed pitch from fullbac~ Dennis A!Jdr~~, to score a two-pomt conversiOn. The Bobcats added a safet} when a high ECCC snap in punt formation sailed out of the end zone with 5:40 left in the first half. The Warriors' Jermaine Evans of Neshoba Central intercepted a Windsor pass and returned it to the JCJC 19 in the final two minutes of the first half. ECCC had first-and– goal at the 2 as Jones was guilty of pass interference in the end zone, but the Warriors had to settle for a 22-yard field goal from Antony Phipps 17 seconds before halftime. Jones had 165 total yards, 151 of which came on the ground, in the first half to go with 10 first downs. ECCC had 9 total yards and five first downs. ECCC managed just three first downs in the second half to 11 for JCJC. The Bobcats took an 18-3lead late in the third period.
