On the Warriors' next possession, it was deja vu "all over again" as Vowell was sacked and Temple made the recovery, this time on the EC 28. The Lions took advantage of the Warrior miscue, as fullback John Rice burst through the EC defense on an 18-yard jaunt. Slaughter add– ed the PAT and EM led 19-6 with 8:12 left before halftime. East Mississippi extended its lead four minutes later when quarterback Demetrus Walk and wide receiver Eric Jones connected on a 64-yard scoring pass play. Slaughter again added the PAT.
