man from Newton County punted 41 times for a 41.7 yard average. It was an honor which amazed Cain. "I was really surprised," said Cain. "I was kind of disappointed in what I did. I want to do a lot beller this year. I want to work at being more consis– tent." True, it is something all of the Warriors want. "The practices have bee real good,'' said Cain. "We a working more as a team thi:– year than we did last year. "Th ings are beginni g to come together and we will field a better football team." Punting may not be glam– orous, but both Bridgman and Cain know it's a necessity. "It's a natural talent,'' !':aid Cain. "I haven't been taught or anything. I started punting in lOth grade (at Hickory) and everybody has been expecting me to do it ever since." So. what exactly lies ahead for an all-state JUCO punter? "I have worked really hard during the off-season," added Cain. "Some senior colleges have expressed an interest in me and I hope more· do so after this year. "I would like to go some– where and play."
