Dr. Eddie M. Smith, president cf East Central Community College in Decatur, has been chosen president of the Southern Association of Com– munity, Junior and Technical Col– leges for 1994. The organization is affiliated with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS > whose members include community and juruor colleges located in 11 state, and Puerto Rico. Dr. Smith previously served 'as v1ce president before being named t6 the top position. Horvath, president of Jefferson Community College, Louisville, Ken– tucky; and editor Dr. Lex D. Walters. president of Piedmont Techntcal College in Greenwood, South Carolina. M. Rudy Groomes. prest– dent of Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical Colleges in Orangeburg, S.C., serves as immediate past president. The SACJTC organization meets each year m association with the an– nual meeting of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. This year's meeting was held Dec. 14-16 in Atlanta. Ga.
