ECCC~eams Sweep Southwest

Il was "rally time" for East Central Community College basketball teams Thursday night as both squads overcame deficits to defeat South– west Mississippi Community Col– lege in games played in the Brackeen-Wood Physical Education Building. The Lady Warriors bounced back from a nine-point halftime deficit to claim a 74-67 win and improved !heir season slate to 11-7 ovecall and 5-5 in South Division competition. EC's men. who once trailed 164, later exploded past the visiting Bears and posted an 88-78 victory. The Warriors have now clinched the south Division runner-up title and still have an outside chance to share division honores with nationally ranked GulfCoast. Shontel Lowe led the EC women in scoring wth 23 points. Other pointmakers were Carolyn Boatman, 18; Paula Nash, 11; r-.1arce11 Gray, 7; Tammie Ridgon, 6; Misty Wrighl, 4; Tonya Stowers and Brooke Smith, 2 each; and Shea Oakley, 1. Southwest led 34-25 at halftime. J.P. Viverette led the Warriors' offensive effort with 14 points. Also scoring were Kevin Kennedy. 12;

Southwest led 33-31 at halftime. Games Played February4 EC teams split with Copiah– Lincoln Community College in games played February 4 on the Wessoncampus. The Lady Warriors were out– scored 87-67 while the East Central men claimed a 115-92 victory. Scoring for the women were Shea Oakley, 21; Shontel Lowe and Caro– lyn Boatman, 10 each; Paula Nash, 8; BeverlyWare, 7; Tammie Rigdon, 4; Brooke Smith, 3; Marcell Gray and Misty Wright, 2 each. Co-Lin led 30-26 at halftime. In the men's game, pointrnakers were Kevin Kennedy, 24; Tony Bail– ey, 20p; Michael James, 16; Mark Stribling, 15; J.P. Viverette, . 11; Tyron Bender, 9; Marvin Nash and Vandy Hopson, 6 each; Luther Riley and Terry Than1es, 3 each; and Tyr– one Sto"'-ers, 2. EC led 64~ 1 at halftime.
