Susan Williams who attends East Central Community College was nominated for this National Award by Dr. Shelby Harris. Susan Williams will appear in the All-American Scholar Directory, ~hlch is published nationally. ''Recognizing and supporting our youth is more important than e"er before in American history. Certain– ly, winners of the All-American Scholar Awards should be congr.Uu– lated and appreciated for their dedi– cation to excellence and achieve– ment," said Dr. George Stevens, Executive Director of the United States Achievement Academy. The Academy selects All– American Scholars upon the exclu– sive recommendations of teachers coaches, counselors, and other quali~ fied sponsors. Once awarded, the students may be recognized by the USAA for other honors. Susan is the daughter of Joe and TommieWilliams. The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. H.P. Williams and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Dear, all of Hickory. ---

The USAA has established the f 11-~erican Scholar Award Prog– ram m order to offer deserved recog– nition to superior students who excel m the Academic disciplines. The All-American Scholars must earn a 3.3 or better grade point average. Only Scholars selected by a school instructor, counselor, or other quAli– fied sponsor are accepted. These scholars are also eligible for other awards given by theUSAA.
