EC's Lady Warriors Advance to Region 23 East Central Community Col· lege's Lady Warriors, runners-up in the South Division and State tour– naments, begin action Monday in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 23 basketball tournament scheduled March 5-8 at Mississippi College in Clinton. The EC women, 20-4 overall and tenth-ranked in the latest naUonal poll, will meet Jones Junior Coll• in a 12 noon matchup March 5 in the MC's Golden Dome. The Eut Central-Jones winner will advance to semi-final action which ia scheduled at noon and 6 p. m. Wednesday, March 7. Finals are let for 6 p. m. Thursday, March 8. Besides East Central and J ones, other women teams competing are Meridian, Copiah-Lincoln, Nor– theast, Coahoma, Holmes and Northeast. In state tournament action, East Central defeated Northwest 80-19 and advanced to the finals wh~re the Lady Warriors fell82-70 to hoet Nor– theast which claimed its sixth straight tournament title. Leading E C scorers against Nor– thwest were Paula Nash and Carol Boatman who each tallied 15. ShonteJ lowe bad 14 points. Jackie Gladney led tbe Uidy War– riors against Northeast with 14 points. Other top pointmakers were Shea Oakley, 13; and Tuttie Ed– wards and Carol Boatman, 10 each.
