WEEK OF

eshoba, Decatur advance • Ill HSAA playoffs

The girls games played on Mon– day mght whittled the large fields by half as semifinals begin later this week. The Lady 'Jackets (21-12) were bounced from further play by Bay Springs (26-7) 64-42 on the road Monday night. Union fell behind 14-0 before scoring, something coach Richard Rivers said Monday afternoon they must avert. " We can 't fall behind early and hope to win. We have to stay in range," he said. But he conceded tbat Bay Springs was just the better team Monday night. "They played really well . One of their girls, Hosey, I think, was 9 of II from the field in the first half. Our effort wasn't a problem we just caught them (Bay Springs) red hot. They were ready to play," said Rivers. Bay Springs wem on to post 18-6 lead after one period and improved that advantage to 33-17 at the half. Shellie Griffin had 23 points to lead Union.
