Pope Named an Award Winner in Music Education The United States Achievement Academy announced today that Phillip Pope, has been named a United States National Collegiate Award winner in music education. This award is a prestigious honor very few students can ever hope to attain. In fact, t he Academy recognizes less than 10% of all American college students. Phillip, who attends East Central Community College was nominated for this National Award by Dr. Shelby Harris, a professor at the school. Phillip will appear in the United States Achievement Academy Official Collegiate Year– book, published nationally. "Recognizing and supporting our youth is more important than ever before in America's history. Certain– ly United States Achievement Academy award winners should be congratulated and appreciated for their dedication to excellence and a chievement," said Dr. George Stevens, Executive Director of the United States Achievement Academy. The Academy selects USAA winners upon the exclusive recommendation of professors, coaches, counselors or other school sponsors and upon the Standards of Selections set forth by the Academ}. The criteria for selection are a stu– dent's academic performance, in– terest and aptitude, leadership qualities, responsibility, en– thusiasm, motivation to Jearn and and recommendation from a pro- fessor or director. Pat Pope of Philadelphia and a graduate of N.boba -Central High School.
