Body gets the gold Body wins state \JICA competition
CHS student Keith Body placed first in the state in prepared speech competition at the 23rd State VICA Leader– ship and kill Olympics held April 9-11 at Hinds Communi– ty College in Raymond. CHS VICA students com– peted in four leadership con– tests: opening and closing, job interview, prepared speech and extemperaneous speech. Also, in two skill contests: job demonstration and carpentry. They were entit led to compete on the state level, having plac– ed in the top three on the district level. Those contes ts were held February 26 at ECCC.
The annual State VICA Olympics provides an oppor– tunity for the top students in their area of training to com– pete with others who excell. It also provides an opportunity to see firsthand the quality of education and training available in the state's voca– tional and technical programs. " I am most pleased with the students who represented CHS at the state contests. They displayed much courage under a tremendous amount of pressure," Earnet Cheeks, VICA adviser, said. As a state winner, Body will now compete in the nationals :0 UNT Y TI ME S during June in Tulsa, Okla. PPEAL
