Free throw shooting can often be the difference between victory and defeat in basketball. The Southwest Community College Bears (12-3) discovered ate unportance of making free dlrows a t the right time in their 11-69 victory over East Central Olmmunity College (5-9). In the last five minutes of the pme the Bears could not sink a single field goal, however they did manage to hit 6-7 free thro~s to give them the one-pomt margm of victory. It was a quite ironic end to a pme in which East Central had stayed close, partly because of 1ts success from the line, making u-of-15 fo r the night and Southwest's failure, 15-of-31. However, when the Bears needed to sink free throws, success came. Tbe game proved to be a defen– sive s truggle.
